ECHO Boiler scheme – The ECHO funders were determined to ensure the continuity of the scheme beyond the usual scheme year closure in March/April given the COVID-19 pandemic. In large part because, in many cases, self-isolation increased the need for heating and hot water for comfort and hygiene. We’re pleased to say that since the country first went into lockdown ECHO has arranged for and funded 430 boiler repairs and replacements to be carried out for vulnerable clients with no central heating or hot water.

Unfortunately, ECHO will now have to temporarily close to new referrals to ensure that sufficient funding is retained to meet the schemes core objective of providing emergency support to fuel poor households in a no heat situation throughout the winter heating season. ECHO is set to return from 1st September onwards and that this step will allow for the provision of support throughout the winter.

About ECHO

ECHO (Emergency Central Heating Offer) is a funded heating scheme that offers emergency assistance to qualifying households to repair or replace broken or condemned gas boilers.

Over winter a lack of heating and hot water can have a severe impact on the health and wellbeing of those most affected by the cold.

If you are an owner occupier with a broken gas boiler, you may be eligible for a fully funded (subject to survey) brand new, A rated energy efficient gas boiler replacement. This scheme is not the same as some other part funded schemes as every qualifying household is entitled to the same level of assistance regardless of the property type for example. ECHO is provided by AgilityEco along with its partners, (in Dorset – Ridgewater Energy) and funded by five energy companies through the Warm Home Discount Industry Initiative Scheme. Launched in 2017, ECHO helped over 1500 households in need with either a boiler repair or replacement.
