Dorset Home Upgrade Grant (HUG)
Dorset Council and BCP Council have launched the Home Upgrade Grant, which is designed to improve the energy efficiency of homes across Dorset.
The scheme enables homeowners and private renters to access funded energy saving measures such as loft & cavity wall insulation, external wall insulation, heating upgrades, air source heat pumps and solar panels. The HUG2 scheme will help reduce energy use and fuel costs for Dorset residents who live in the lower energy rated homes (EPC D to G) and heat their homes with a fuel other than mains gas such as; electric heaters, oil and LPG boilers and solid fuel heating.
Energy & Money Saving Booklet
Ridgewater Energy have worked in conjunction with a number of organisations, in order to develop an Energy & Money Saving Booklet, tailored to the BCP Council and Dorset Council area.
Commissioned by BCP Council and Dorset Council, the booklet contains a number of hints & tips for every day guidance, methods to help reduce your energy use, tools to manage your budget & energy usage and a list of local organisations that can assist you.
Local Energy Advice Partnership
LEAP (Local Energy Advice Partnership) is a FREE home visit scheme to assist residents throughout Dorset with free energy advice, energy saving devices, along with access to other improvements like heating upgrades and insulation. Eligibility criteria is vast, if you are in a receipt of a benefit, suffering from poor health or are vulnerable, you will most likely qualify for this scheme. It is also the first assessment we advise to carry out, as it refers candidates for other grant schemes that could benefit them.
Help for Warmth
Help for Warmth is a scheme designed to assist all clients in the domestic sector from owner occupiers, private and social tenants and their landlords, whether on low incomes, benefits, or in full time well paid employment.
The scheme can help anyone living in a domestic premises, to get advice and assistance with upgrading the energy efficiency of their home. With so many schemes, funding streams and qualifying criteria, we encourage you to contact us using the form on this page, if you are still unsure of which options are open to you.
The common assumption is that you need to be receiving state benefits to get assistance, this is not the case and many clients are surprised what they qualify for, or that we can still assist those not able to get grant funding, with full advice and support in assessing and installing these works.
Surviving Winter Appeal
Donations to the Appeal are dispersed to local older people in fuel poverty and since first launched in 2011, Dorset Community Foundation, the charity behind the Appeal, has raised and dispersed over £270,000 in support.
This year’s Appeal is now closed but will re-open for applications in November.
